585 memberships attend Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association's annual meeting

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association, Inc. (PVREA) held its 76th Annual Meeting on March 28 at Embassy Suites in Loveland. Approximately 585 memberships attended the meeting, which is held annually to report on cooperative business and elect members to the Board of Directors.

As a member-owned electric cooperative, PVREA is governed by democratic principles and the membership elects Board of Director positions for three year terms. Four Board of Director positions were up for reelection in 2015: three in Larimer County and one in Boulder County. The membership elected Incumbent Ronald G. Sutherland to serve a three year term in Boulder County. Incumbent James Fender, Incumbent Rickey D. Johnson, and Incumbent Roger Alexander were elected to serve three year terms in Larimer County.

Members also received updates from the Colorado Rural Electric Association and Tri-State Generation and Transmission. CEO Jeff Wadsworth and Board of Directors President Jack Schneider gave reports on the cooperative’s community relations, rate stability, energy efficiency services, reliability, renewable energy and financial state.

“In 2015, we were able to hold the line on rates once again. That means we’ve had rate stability for two years in a row, and we have not increased rates to cover any of our internal costs for six years in a row,” CEO Jeff Wadsworth reported to the membership. “I am pleased to report that in 2014 we had the lowest average residential rate of any cooperative in Colorado purchasing their wholesale power from Tri-State, our wholesale provider.”

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 38,000 consumer-members in Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties in Northern Colorado.
