Female entrepreneurs launch AWE-inspiring group

The opportunity to join Allied Women Entrepreneurs, a newly-formed 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, opens officially on April 1. The five founding members, women who own their own businesses and juggle complicated work and personal lives, are passionate about their organization and the role it can play to encourage and support women who are committed to entrepreneurship. Women with young children are especially encouraged to take part in the educational and social opportunities provided by the organization.

Monthly meetings will feature experts on a wide range of topics related to the successful operation of small businesses owned by women and frequently operated out of their homes.

The goal of the organization is to empower women to reach their professional goals through education, networking, mentoring and business development. AWE welcomes business-owners-to-be, women who work in direct sales, experienced entrepreneurs and those just getting started. It serves women of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientations and nationalities, regardless of any disabilities. The organization is based in Fort Collins, but welcomes members from surrounding communities.

The founders have expertise in diverse areas. Dani Stringer, owner of DSD Jewelry, has two young children and also assists her husband with his business. Amber Hinds is a graphic designer and Website developer. Melinda Walker is an artist and owner of heartMelinda. Carolyn Spranger, a lifestyle photographer, specializes in birth and new baby photography.

AWE will launch officially at 6:30 p.m. on April 22 at the Fort Collins Brewery, 1020 E. Lincoln Ave. in Fort Collins. In addition to appetizers, beverages and door prizes, there will be a short presentation about AWE where membership information, planned events and activities and opportunities for mentoring and business development are shared. The public is encouraged to attend this evening of networking and fun. Tickets go on sale April 1. Free to members at Allied Entrepreneur and Elite Entrepreneur levels.
