Colorado State University Larimer County Extension, Be Local Northern Colorado and the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture will sponsor the Colorado Building Farmers and Ranchers Program in Larimer County this fall. The goals of the program are to build business management skills among those interested in entering into production agriculture or expanding into new markets, and to increase networking and community capacity among new and existing farmers.
The eight-week program will be held on Monday evenings beginning Oct. 10 at the CSU Larimer County Extension office. Classes are from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with dinner and networking for the first hour, followed by interactive classroom presentations and discussion. At the end of the program, participants will have developed a business plan for their own agricultural business. The program thrives with participation from farmers and ranchers of all experience levels.
The cost of the program is $160 for new and intermediate farmers and ranchers, which includes dinner and materials. Experienced farmers and ranchers can attend all eight sessions for $80, including dinner, or $25 per class.
