The City of Fort Collins will host a public forum on Thursday, June 4 for residents to learn results of three reports regarding oil and gas that were commissioned by the City.
Consultants will present the reports from 6-8 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 300 LaPorte Ave. The meeting will be taped and rebroadcast on Cable 14 for those who cannot attend.
Two of the reports were commissioned by the City to allow the City to begin to respond to the language in Ballot Measure 2A, passed by voters in November 2013. Ballot Measure 2A called for a five-year moratorium on the use of hydraulic fracturing and the storage of its wastes in City limits and on lands under the City’s jurisdiction. Consultants and City staff will present information about data availability in response to language in Ballot Measure 2A that anticipates evaluation of impacts on property values and human health.
A third report was initiated before the moratorium and was co-funded by the City and the current oil and gas operator in response to the requirement in the City’s Operator Agreement to identify baseline air quality conditions. Results of this air quality sampling will be presented.
