The City of Fort Collins and Poudre School District plan to host an informational open house about the new multi-use path and crosswalk at Tavelli Elementary School. The event will be held May 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Tavelli Elementary School (1118 Miramont Drive in Fort Collins).
Grants for the project were awarded to the city as part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School program, and matching funds came from Poudre School District. Project construction is slated to begin in the late summer of this year.
“Right now, students at Tavelli who live south along Lindenmeier Road don’t have a safe way to walk or bike to school because this section of road has no sidewalks and very narrow bike lanes,” explains Nancy Nichols, the City’s Safe Routes to School coordinator. “This new path and crosswalk will allow students from neighborhoods on both sides of Lindenmeier to safely walk and bike right up to the front doors of Tavelli Elementary.”
