What is Proposition 117?

Fracking is dirty. Not just when oil and gas comes out of the well, but after it stops producing too. If state and local governments want to require companies to pay their fair share for cleanup so that taxpayers don’t have to, Proposition 117 (originally, Initiative 295) would make it much harder to do so. By changing the Colorado Constitution, Prop 117 would protect the fracking industry at the expense of Coloradans.

Prop 117 is a scheme by big corporations who want to profit at the expense of our right to be healthy and safe where we live, work and play.

Why should I Vote NO on 117?

Because polluters should pay

If Prop 117 is approved, it will be very hard to make big businesses — like fracking — pay to clean up their own pollution.

To protect our pocketbooks:

If polluters don’t have to pay to clean up their own pollution, who will? You guessed it, ordinary Coloradans… or pollution will continue unabated.

Guarantee Funding for Essential Services

Important programs and departments like unemployment insurance and the Division of Parks and Wildlife are examples of state-owned enterprises. Prop 117 would make it more difficult for Colorado to create and deliver on these kinds of services for its residents
