Larimer County Republicans announce locations for 2014 caucus

The Larimer County Republican Party has announced the 2014 caucus locations for the upcoming March 4 caucus. The Republicans have posted the 2014 caucus locations on their website at www.larimergop.org along with other useful information.

“This year, we want to make sure all participants have as much data as possible at their fingertips”, said Jerry Patterson, internal vice-chairman for the Larimer GOP. “The Larimer GOP’s website has links to the caucus locations, maps for precincts, a link to the Larimer County Elections site where you can verify your voter registration and precinct, a caucus manual giving an overview of the caucus as well as all the details, and a Powerpoint presentation that walks folks through what a caucus is and does.”

The Colorado State Republican Party has also put its easy-to-use caucus pre-registration system online for 2014 at http://caucus.cologop.org, where you can get an e-mail on any last minute changes. This system will streamline the check-in process at the caucus for participants. Preregistration is not required to attend caucus, but is encouraged.

The Republican Caucuses in Colorado will all start at 7 p.m. on March 4. Sites will open starting at 6:30 p.m. to begin the participant verification process.

“Anyone that lives in Colorado, has affiliated with the Republican Party two months before the caucus (January 4), registered to vote in their precinct 30 days before caucus (February 6), or has turned 18 or become a newly naturalized citizen in that time can participate in their precinct,” explained Patrick Albright, Larimer GOP chairman. “If you have moved within the State since February 6th you can still go to your old precinct’s caucus meeting and participate there.”

The precinct caucus meetings occur every two years in Colorado and are the first step in the 2014 election process. The caucuses elect members to represent the precinct on the county party’s central committee and elect delegates to assemblies where primary candidates are designated for the 2014 primary ballot. This year the primary election is June 24, 2014. Participants in Larimer County will also take part in straw poll to state their preference in candidates for governor, United States Senate and 2nd Congressional District.
