The Larimer County Workforce Center is currently accepting applications from youth entrepreneurs, ages 13-18, for the third annual Young Entrepreneur Tournament.
Youth will complete a series of business planning classes on Saturday mornings, beginning on April 13.
Participants can expect to identify or confirm and idea for their business along with developing an initial business plan. As part of the tournament series, local business leaders from the community will meet one-on-one with each youth to evaluate the business plan and provide tangible feedback to successfully move each plan into the implementation phase. The top five business plans will formally present their business plan to a panel of business leaders and community members. Cash prizes will be awarded through the United Way of Larimer County through the generous support of business and community members.
As a special incentive, the top three winners will be matched with a local business mentor for nine months to further refine the plan and to prepare for the E-Challenge competition, hosted by the University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business in March, 2014. The E-Challenge event will offer the three finalists an opportunity to compete for new prize money to support their business.
The Young Entrepreneur Tournament is sponsored by the Larimer County Workforce Center, the University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business, and the United Way of Larimer County.
