Larimer County Emergency Services was called to assist the Glacier View Fire Department Monday night with a 1.28 acre fire near the intersection of County Road 74E and Mount Moriah Road, near Glacier View Gate #2.
An off-duty Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy witnessed the lightning-caused fire and immediately attempted to alert residents of a nearby home. The fire came within 100 feet of the home. The deputy also attempted to notify residents in homes over the ridge from the fire to be on standby. There were no evacuations, no one was injured and no structures were damaged.
The Livermore Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service also assisted in fighting the fire. A single engine air tanker (SEAT) was provided by the Colorado State Forest Service and dropped a single load of retardant on the fire.
A Larimer County Emergency Services crew remained on scene Tuesday to complete mop up operations.
