State Forest State Park and Gould Community Halloween hike Oct. 31

Halloween is right around the bend, so it is time to carve out a spooky plan for your celebration.

Come join State Forest State Park for our third annual Halloween event on Monday, Oct. 31, starting at 6 p.m. at the Moose Visitor Center. The enchanting walk along the Michigan River through the dark forest and willow bottom will thrill and chill. Be careful you don’t take a wrong turn and end up where you don’t belong – ghosts have been known to linger here.

The activities start with the Gould-ish Potluck. Bring your most creative Halloween dish. Dishes will be judged by our Ghoulish Judges. The costume contest for all ages follows the potluck. Bring your own carved pumpkin to enter in the BYOP pumpkin carving contest. Then journey out on the Gould Loop with all the ghouls and ghosts, long-leggity beasties and things that go bump in the night.

Within the boundaries of the State Forest State Park, about 75 miles west of Fort Collins, lie almost 71,000 acres of the great outdoors as it was meant to be. Eye-filling mountain beauty greets the visitor and provides a setting unequalled for recreational possibilities — backpacking, hiking, horseback riding, lake and stream fishing, camping, four-wheeling and just relaxing. The park stretches along the west side of the Medicine Bow Mountains and into the north end of the Never Summer Range.
