Sustainable Living Association announces Earth Day Fort Collins at the Gardens on Spring Creek

Sustainable Living Association a will host Earth Day Fort Collins on April 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gardens on Spring Creek, 2145 Centre Avenue, Fort Collins. This year marks a greater collaboration with the City of Fort Collins. By partnering with the Gardens, attendees will benefit from a larger and more interactive venue that allows expanded Earth Day activities. Admission is free and attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for the food bank.

Earth Day Fort Collins is a combination of activities and events for the entire family, featuring informational booths and displays, arts and crafts, live music, speakers, local food and a beer garden. Earth Day encourages and inspires community members to honor the Earth every day and make efforts toward conservation and preservation of our wondrous planet for current and future generations.

The first Earth Day in 1970 led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency and paved the way for the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts. Earth Day brought the environment into the national conversation with thousands of rallies and events that first year. Earth Day has inspired and mobilized individuals and organizations worldwide to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.

For more than a decade the SLA has been at the forefront of the sustainable living and lifestyle movement in our region. As a community working collectively, our impact continues to grow through outreach and education. Earth Day is a global celebration and educational event that provides individuals with the necessary information and resources to modify their lifestyles, thereby reducing their environmental impact. This type of community education and awareness is the basis on which SLA has built its mission and that is why we support the Earth Day tradition in our community.

SLA provides numerous opportunities for businesses and non-profits to engage in and support our ongoing community efforts to educate, inspire and motivate citizens to live more in balance with nature by — conserving natural resources and leaving less of an impact on the earth. SLA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that brings the concept and practices of sustainable lifestyles into everyday life. This is accomplished through an annual Sustainable Living Fair, a year-round workshop program and other community events such as Earth Day, that connect environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
