Camman Fire contained

The Camman Fire, which started Wednesday afternoon, burned only about four acres south of the Poudre Canyon near Pingree Park Road before the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department declared it 100 percent contained just before noon on Thursday.

Lightning started the fire on land owned by the City of Greeley and surrounded by US Forest Service property, approximately a mile and a half east of Pingree Park Road and 2 miles south of the canyon. Firefighers and aircraft that were in the area fighting the Stuart Hole fire farther north were redeployed to the Camman Fire. Water dropped from the Hourglass Reservoir, also owned by Greeley, and about a quarter-inch of rain on Wednesday night helped contain the fire quickly. Crews will be on the scene Thursday mopping up.
