Fort Collins man cited for starting Hewlett Fire

The U.S. Forest Service has issued a citation to James J. Weber of Fort Collins for starting the Hewlett Fire.

According to U.S. Forest Service investigators, Weber was camping on the Hewlett Gulch trail Monday when his alcohol-fueled camp stove ignited dry brush in the area. Weber told investigators that he attempted to stomp out the fire but was unsuccessful and fled as the fire spread. There is no cell service at the location of the origin of the fire.
