The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources has released their list of May guided hikes and programs.
On May 1 and 15, the “Nature Notes Club Meetings” will take place. Interested participants are encouraged to join the Nature Notes Club for its regular May meetings. Although this three hour program will mostly be stationary with some easy walking, hikers are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring along all of their journaling supplies.
On May 13 at 10 a.m. there will be a “Tiny Trekkers: A Seed is a Promise” event. Parents and toddlers will have fun with Larimer County Naturalists in special program designed just for kids. Located at Devil’s Backbone Open Space off of Hwy. 34, this program will be a morning filled with crafts, stories and fun facts! A parent or guardian must accompany the child for the hour-long program. This event is free and no registration is required.
And on May 31 at 9 a.m. there will be a “Take It Outside with Your Commissioner” event. This will be an informal opportunity to visit with Commissioner Tom Donnelly and Open Lands Program Manager Kerri Rollins. This two hour hiking program has an “easy” rating, but again hikers are advised to bring water for the trail and to dress appropriately for the weather. The program is free, but registration is required. Please go to www.larimer.org/NRregistration to sign up.
