The Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome the addition of the Wellington Business and Community Guide — produced by North Forty News and recently delivered to every household in Wellington — to our community resources. The Chamber is the premier business association in the area, with 81 members, 12 of whom joined in 2012. We are justly proud of our membership and welcome the participation of all organizations having an interest in promoting the development of Wellington.
The Chamber sponsors several activities in support of local businesses. We hold welcoming ribbon cuttings for all new business openings to recognize their commitment to the area. We also distribute newcomer welcome packets for residents or visitors that contain valuable information and coupons from our members.
Chamber activities include monthly Business After Hours meetings hosted by members to inform other members about their products and services in an informal, social setting. Breakfast Roundtable seminars are held monthly with informative presentations on various topics of interest to small businesses, such as tax change updates, social media resources, avoiding online frauds, and economic development updates.

The Chamber supports development of the area through our Economic Development subcommittee and participation in the Main Street project, in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. In 2012, we initiated the Shop Local campaign, with the distribution of bumper stickers and town signage to encourage patronage of our local businesses.
We are proud to support community activities and organizations. We hold a fundraising silent auction at our annual meetings to assist local organizations such as the Wellington Food Bank and the Wellington Boys and Girls club. In 2012, this totaled over $5,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. The Chamber also participates in town events such as the July 4th street parade and the Fall Harvest Festival.
We have an ambitious plan for 2013, in addition to continuing our current activities. New projects include creation of an information package to assist businesses in making the decision to locate in Wellington. We are also seeking to facilitate greater communications among all our civic organizations with the goal of making Wellington a great place to live and do business.
