No pertussis at Rice after all

Results from additional tests show that a student at Rice Elementary School who was thought to have whooping cough does not have an active case.

“The child possibly has had a previous exposure to pertussis and is currently receiving antibiotics as a precautionary measure,” Rice Elementary Principal Karen K. Koehn wrote in a Friday letter to parents.

She went on to remind parents that the pertussis outbreak in Colorado is at epidemic levels. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact their health care provider.
