A rafting accident on the Poudre River earlier today has claimed the life of a 25-year-old female. At 2:41 p.m. on June 4, rescuers were called to investigate an overturned raft in the Cache la Poudre River in the 13000-block of the Poudre Canyon, west of Ft. Collins in Larimer County. This is approximately fourteen miles west of Ted’s Place.
Shortly after the initial call, it was determined that there was one rafter still in the river who needed help. Larimer County Emergency Services and the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team were dispatched to assist.
There were four occupants in the privately owned raft, three were able to get out and were okay, but the 25-year-old female who remained in the water was eventually retrieved downstream in Poudre Park and transported by Air Link to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the victim as well as the manner and cause of death will be determined by the Larimer County Coroner and released from their office once next of kin have been notified. The age, sex and hometowns of the other people involved are not immediately available.
