USPS to discuss reduction in hours at Livermore post office, may consider closing it

The Postal Service will host a community meeting Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. to discuss the future of Livermore’s post office.

Possibilities on the table include reducing hours of operation to six per weekday — Saturday hours would not change — or studying closing the post office and opening an alternate location in a local business. Another option would include closing the post office and using roadside mailboxes, with he rural carrier facilitating most of the products and services the Postal Service offers.

The Postal Service will make a decision on the options, including where P.O. boxes could be relocated to, after the public meeting.

The will be held at the Livermore Community Church, 284 W. County Road 74E in Livermore.
