Colorado State University Hosts 2018 Aries Composers Festival, Feb 11, 12 and 13

Three Days of Education and Performances

Fort Collins– The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Colorado State University is proud to host the 2018 Aries Composers Festival. The three-day festival will take place in the University Center for the Arts, located at 1400 Remington Street, with a final performance at The Music District, located at 639 S College Avenue. Individual event information is outlined below.

 Continuing this spring, venue seating is reserved. Tickets are no charge for CSU students, $3 for youth (under 18), $12 for seniors (62+), and $14 for the public, unless otherwise stated. Tickets are available at the University Center for the Arts (UCA) ticket office in the UCA lobby Monday through Friday, 3:30-5:30 p.m. and 60 minutes prior to performances, by phone at (970) 491-ARTS (2787), or online at www.CSUArtsTickets.com. Youth tickets must be purchased in person at the Ticket Office. All tickets are subject to a $1 ticket fee for both online and at-the-door purchases. Advance ticket purchase is recommended to avoid lines and further at-the-door fees.

The three-day event welcomes renowned composers from throughout the U.S. and abroad. Originally known as the Rocky Mountain Contemporary Music Festival, many world-famous composers, music theorists, musicologists, and other researchers interested in new music have visited and worked with CSU students in rehearsals, concerts, lectures, panels, and masterclasses, including most recently Michael Daugherty and Libby Larsen.

• Sunday, February 11, 6 p.m. – Percussion Ensemble Concert, Griffin Concert Hall, UCA  – The inspiring and meaningful performance of      modern percussion music is comprised of pieces selected from over 400 world-wide submissions to the festival, and features a wide          variety of percussion instruments.
• Monday, February, 12, 7:30 p.m. – Faculty Chamber Music Concert, Organ Recital Hall, UCA – Features works involving percussion, strings, and winds selected from hundreds of submissions.

• Tuesday, February, 13, 4 p.m. – Electroacoustic Percussion Concert, The Music District / FREE – Innovative works for solo percussion and live electronics, performed by the composers.
