The Poudre Canyon Fire Fighters are preparing for one of their hottest events of the year, their annual chili cookoff! A tradition begun in March of 2012 as a fundraiser for the fire department, the event will be held in the Poudre Canyon Fire Station #2 at 6:00 pm. In addition to the chili competition, there will be a live and a silent auction and numerous door prizes. So far, auction items include Rockies tickets, Archery lessons, a sunset cruise on Terry Lake, a New Belgium bicycle, and gift certificates from local venders.
Even if all things blazing are the specialty of the fire department, you don’t have to be a firefighter to compete in the cookoff. For information on how to enter your own favorite recipe, contact Ralph Matzner at [email protected].
The event will be held on April 7, 2018 at Poudre Canyon Fire Station #2, located  in the upper Poudre Canyon near MM88 (33689 Highway 14). Admission is $10 per person or $25 per family.
Funds raised will be used to purchase new equipment, provide training for fire fighters and emergency medical staff and to match grants.
