More than 20 million Americans have diabetes including seven million who don’t know they have it. The disease is one of the top 10 causes of death in the U. S.
The Kendall Anderson Nutrition Center at Colorado State University is offering a four-week program to help people prevent, manage and learn more about diabetes.
Registration is now open for Dining with Diabetes, designed to aid in the control of prediabetes, type 2 diabetes and to offer practical skills for daily living.
Taught by registered dietitian nutritionists, participants will be empowered to take care of themselves while learning meal planning, portion sizes and tips for making healthful food choices. Classes include diabetes nutrition education, food demonstrations, tasting, hands-on cooking and physical activity tips and recommendations.
Classes are 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, January 29 through February 19. Cost is $100 for community members. CSU students and employees are eligible for discounts. For more information, see www.nutritioncenter.colostate.edu. Or call 970-491-8615.
