“Good People”, directed by Cheryl King, opens at Bas Bleu Theatre, 401 Pine St. in Fort Collins, on May 28 and runs through June 26. An insightful comedy of class and culture, “Good People” tells the story of Maggie, a girl from the wrong side of Boston who has lost her job and is one bingo game away from homelessness. Debut Theatre in Fort Collins is celebrating 50 shows and 25 years in the community with E.B. White’s classic “Charlotte’s Web,” playing May 6 through 14. Through May 22, Midtown Arts Center, 3750 S. Mason St. in Fort Collins, is showing “Lost in Yonkers.” Described as Neil Simon’s best play, it tells the story of two teenage boys sent to stay with a childlike aunt and mobster uncle. The boys find life bewildering among these eccentric relatives, and learn about pain, humor and love. Rated PG. Tickets are available at midtownartscenter.com or by calling 970-225-2555. In Studio Two at Midtown “The Fantasticks” shows through May 29. “Mary Poppins” opens at Midtown June 3 and runs through Aug. 27.
The summer schedule has been announced for a series of concerts near the lagoon on the west side lawn of the CSU Lory Student Center, 1101 Center Avenue Mall in Fort Collins. The outdoor concerts begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, and people are encouraged to bring picnics and their own seating. The concert schedule includes: June 15: Wendy Woo Band, June 22: Bonnie and the Clydes, June 29: Maxwell Mud, July 6: Euforquestra, July 13: The Burroughs, July 20: Winchester Holiday, July 27: Union Gray, August 3: Danielle Ate the Sandwich. Poudre RiverFest will be held June 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Legacy Park, 300 Woodlawn Drive in Fort Collins.
