The Third Annual Fort Collins Beer Week (FCBW) will take place June 18-26, 2016. The Fort Collins brewing industry positively impacts our local economy with a unique collaborative culture, job creation, creativity, and entrepreneurship and Fort Collins Beer Week is designed to highlight the impact of the industry and celebrate the relationships within it. “We produce Fort Collins Beer Week as a fun way to bring people together around the best of Fort Collins and the people that make it great,” says Kristina Cash, Founder of Fortified Collaborations. “This week really gives our brewers and business owners the opportunity to show off what makes them shine.”
The week will kick off with the 5th Annual Brewers Olympics Beer Festival Extraordinaire hosted by Go West T-Shirt Company on Saturday, June 18,from 12-5 pm. The event benefits the House That Beer Built II through Habitat for Humanity, and the family chosen as the recipient of this year’s house is the Beavers family. This family moved to Fort Collins after experiencing the disheartening housing market of a Colorado tourist town. After hearing about Habitat for Humanity and volunteering onsite, they agreed that this project could be a great opportunity for them.
“Building our own home has long been a dream of ours and we are excited to be partnering with Habitat for Humanity! Home ownership is an opportunity we weren’t sure we would have after moving four times in the last five years. Being chosen to purchase a Habitat home means financial stability and the ability to support our children in their future education and life aspirations. We can finally let go of our fear of homelessness and begin working toward an abundant future for our family,” the Beavers family commented.
13 beloved Fort Collins breweries will compete against each other in various games of skill and chance, including a Beer Journey Obstacle Course and Know Your Local Beer tasting, all while dressed in festive and themed costumes per team. Fans will cheer on their favorite brewery, have opportunities to participate in the games, and enjoy spectator sports, all while supporting a good cause. Activities at this family friendly event will include a DJ, food trucks, the Local Bartender Dunk Tank, a bouncy house, and more. Admission is $10 and includes one beer token. Tickets purchased in advance online include two beer tokens and an opportunity to give your favorite brewery extra points. Kids 12 and under are free.
