Greeley Blues Jam

Celebrating its 10th year anniversary, the Greeley Blues Jam pockets yet another top bill spread this year that continues to exceed expectations heralded by yearly attendees. This year’s lineup tops the cake with Tab Benoit (pronounced ben-wah) coming to us from his hometown of Houma, LA., stopping for a visit on June 14 amidst his tour with fellow musician Tommy Malone of the Subdudes.
With 18 recordings under his blues belt and owner of Lagniappe (small gift or token in French) Music Café, Benoit is also the founder of ‘Voice of the Wetlands’, an organization that promotes awareness for Lousiana’s receding coastal wetlands.
A last minute rarity that almost seemed surreal occurred in miraculous timing for an amazing group of six musicians hailing from all reaches of the United States called The Phantom Blues Band, an appropriate name for a group of people whose busy activities provide minimal time together only to exude powerful synchronicity when re-connecting. Each member accolades individual lists comprising of recordings and performances with well known names to include Taj Mahal, Etta James, Elton John, Bonnie Riatt, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Little Feat, Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King – just to name a few! You will be sure to become rooted and enveloped with the magic of soulful serenades from the heart of blues music.
The Ori Naftaly Band from Israel will be kicking off the celebration in downtown Greeley on Friday, June 13 at 3pm. Family festivities go until 8pm, when you’ll then want to have a sitter lined up to enjoy some adult fun for the rest of the evening.
On Saturday, June 14 at the Island Grove Arena located at 504 N 14 Ave, which sits on 145 beautiful acres with more than 200 RV hookups, the bluesin’ starts at 11am and is to be a steady stream of festive liveliness. Camping is available Friday and Saturday. Keep water and sunscreen handy and enjoy the show!
Tickets are available at Spotlight Music or at www.greeleybluesjam.com.
