Dennis Warren “Denny” Carlstrom, 67, of Walden, passed away on Sept. 23, 2014, in his home in Walden. He was comforted by his wife and surrounded by his family. A celebration of life was held at the North Park Community Church on Sept. 29 with Rev. Gary Wilkins officiating.
Denny was born in Laramie, Wyo., to Kenny and Althea (Geer) Carlstrom on April 20, 1947. He went to high school in Walden and graduated from North Park High School in 1965.
Growing up, Denny helped on the family homestead, the Lone Pine Ranch, west of Walden. The family raised and showed Hereford cattle. Denny participated and excelled in football and basketball, along with showing cattle.
He went on to study agriculture business at Colorado State University, where he was a member of the rodeo and judging team. After a few years in college, Denny decided to return back to Walden, his boyhood home.
He was an active member of the Oddfellows, National Western Stock Show, North Park Little League, North Park Community Church and various other clubs and activities. He married Delita Swayze Oct. 8, 1971, and they had two children, Chad and Kristi.
Denny married Jeanie (Dodge) Eacret of Walden on April 20, 1989. He gained three stepchildren: Jennifer, Kurt and Kelly.
Denny worked in various occupations, but his heart belonged to ranching where he spent most of his working days. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, riding his horse and other sporting activities.
Denny is survived by his wife, Jeanie of Walden and his mother Althea Carlstrom, of Holyoke. He also leaves his son Chad Carlstrom and his wife, Chrissy (Evans), of Walden; daughter Kristi Bertron and her husband, Darren, of Johnstown; stepdaughter Jennifer (Eacret) Weddle of Rand; stepson Kurt Eacret and his wife, Sue (Zavorka), of Byers; and stepson Kelly Eacret and his wife, Trish (Smercina), of Walden. He also is survived by two brothers: Bob Carlstrom and his wife, Linda, of Walden, and Lonnie Carlstrom and his wife, Deb, of Juanita, Neb.
Denny leaves his grandchildren: Sequoya and Austin Bertron; Bryce and Kaylee Carlstrom; Brittney McNaney; Seth and Paul Eacret and Quincy Eacret. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenny Carlstrom, a grandson Tristin Bertron and his beloved horse Blueberry.
