A Celebration of Life for Julia Vigil Sherrill was held on Aug. 2.
Julia Vigil Sherrill was born on Jan. 9, 1942, to Tobe and Antonia (Trijuillo) Vigil. After a lengthy illness she passed away at North Suburban Hospital in Thornton, where she resided with her husband Larry Sherrill.
Julia is survived by her husband; daughter Susan Rothwell (Scott) and son Robert Guerrero (Celeste); four grandchildren Christopher, Jeff, Joey and Janelle; and a sister, Bertha Vigil Cabrera.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Art, Edward, and Pete Vigil; and sisters Eva Ortiz, Sadie Gallegos and Mary Ellen Sanfillipo.
She managed the Derby Lanes Restaurant and worked as a cook or bartender over the years. She was a member of the Eagles and VFW organizations of Commerce City.
Growing up she lived in Bellvue, Wellington, Fort Collins and later in Loveland, Commerce City and Thornton.
Julie loved spending time with her family, going to watch the Rockies, reading romance novels, gambling in Black Hawk and spending time in the mountain area where she grew up. She also loved listening to Mexican music and watching novellas with Larry, even though he didn’t understand the language.
Mostly she loved sharing her life with her family and friends and attending every special event she was invited to.
Our wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend will be missed by all.
