Steve Robinson, a firefighter for 33 years and chief of the Red Feather Lakes Fire Protection District for 28 years, is leaving the department. He announced his retirement in an Aug. 15 letter to RFL property owners.
“I would like to thank the community for standing behind the fire department and the support you have shown me as chief,” said Robinson in his letter. “Over the past 33 years there have been some big changes: a new fire station, upgrading firefighter apparatus, upgrading our ISO rating from Town Class 7 to Town Class 9 and improving member benefits.”
A new chief has not been selected.
The department will be hosting an open house during the RFL’s Sept. 1 Fire Day. A parade through the village starts at 8:45 a.m.
