A reminder. The Friends of the Library raffle quilt will be on display through August at Western Ridge Resort. You are encouraged to stop by and view this exceptional quilt, entitled “Game of Skill” and created and donated by the Mountain Meadows Quilters. Raffle tickets are available ($2 each or 6 for $10) at Western Ridge, at the RFL Library or through Friends of the Library Board members. The drawing for the quilt will be held Sept. 8 at the library and the winner contacted.
We’d like to thank outgoing Friends president Sandy Lagow for her considerable efforts in behalf of the Friends and the Library, welcome incoming president Ann McKay, and also new Friends board members Tammie Miller and Janice Elshot.

Our local author book talks continue into the month as well with Lana Shore scheduled Sunday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m.; and Bev Parker, Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2 p.m.
C.L. Hutchins – in a Red Feather Historical Society program Saturday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. – will discuss his latest and very popular book, a “Red Feather Mystery,” entitled “Claim on Death.”
We’ve had an opportunity to ask Larry the inevitable question if any characters in the book are fictionalized local residents. He’s reported to have said “absolutely not… with one exception and I’m not naming names!” But, see for yourself. “Claim on Death” is available at the library (3 copies), and also online at Amazon in both a print and Kindle edition.
Speaking of new titles you’re probably aware of the publicity surrounding Harper Lee’s new companion title to “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “Go Set a Watchman” originally written in the 1950s and now available in print for the first time.
We’re not going to speculate on the genesis of the book – there’s enough of that currently in the press – but rather comment on the new and exciting ways you have of getting a copy from the library. There’s traditional print and spoken-word on CD, but we’re also offering the title as an e-Book download from both our OverDrive and 3M Cloud Library services as well as an e-Audio download from OverDrive. If the format you prefer is checked out, place a hold. There are sufficient copies to ensure that any wait will not be excessive.
