Bee Family Centennial Farm Museum opens for season May 2

The Bee Family Centennial Farm Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will open May 2 for the 2014 season.

Step into the history of northern Colorado agriculture. A new exhibit this year is an agriculture timeline depicting how agriculture has changed through the years and how farming relates to other historical events. Some of the hands-on children’s activities include: washing clothes on a scrub board, milking a wooden cow, grinding corn and throwing irrigation tubes. A baby calf, lambs, a pig, chickens and turkeys are among the farm animals that will enrich your family’s experience at the farm museum.

The museum will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and is located at 4320 E. County Rd. 58 in Fort Collins. Entrance fees are $7 for Adults, $5 for Seniors 60+, $3 for Children 3-12, Children under 3 free.

Plan ahead for the upcoming 2014 Special Events:

• June 14, Vintage Base Ball Game — A team from the Colorado Vintage Base Ball Association will play a local team from Wellington. Late-1800s rules and uniforms are used. Come join the fun, bring a picnic lunch, learn about early farm history on the farm tour and children’s activities. The Northern Colorado Model A Club will have their antique cars on display. Concessions will be sold, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the game. Game time is 1 p.m., other activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Sept. 27, Pioneer Living Day — Come see what life was like over 100 years ago. Special presentations include: spinning and quilting, food demonstrations, blacksmith, miniature hay-stacking equipment, beet farmer’s wife, draft horse models and working with horses.

There will be a photo booth, trolley rides around the farm and children’s activities. Bring a picnic lunch, there will be ice cream and lemonade for sale.
