The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Phillips and Jordan, Inc. have completed the debris removal process along the flooded-impacted highways. Altogether, crews picked up in excess of 120,000 pounds of debris, but the total count has not yet been finalized. Although CDOT has completed its debris removal process, Boulder County and Larimer County efforts are still underway with a variety of resources still available to residents.
Larimer County’s right-of-way debris clean-up program is still underway in partnership with TFR Enterprises, as crews actively try to clear the debris before the peak spring runoff, thereby decreasing further risk of damage or destruction. Larimer County encourages community members to clear their properties of debris as soon as possible, and to visit www.larimer.org for clean-up and debris disposal information available such as the flood debris pick-up schedule and information; debris removal guidelines; disposal of flood debris at the Larimer County Landfill; flood clean-up assistance; and more.
In accordance with the guidelines, flood qualified debris does NOT include unimproved land, farm and ranch land, and commercial property. To schedule a debris pick up, please call the Larimer County Debris Hotline at 970-498-7140. Please be aware, debris removal only includes ELIGIBLE flood debris from county-maintained right-of-ways only, per FEMA regulations. This FEMA program is for residential private property owners who are removing debris from their property themselves, or with the assistance of volunteers and not paid contractors.
The U.S. Forest Service would like to remind the public that prior written authorization is required before removing any materials from National Forest System lands. Additionally, depositing materials on National Forest System lands is prohibited. For information about the U.S. Forest Service recovery efforts, check www.fs.usda.gov/goto/arp/floodrecovery.
