Cheyenne rally scheduled to show support for persecuted Christians and humanitarian relief efforts

Orthodox Christians and other religious leaders from Wyoming and Northern Colorado will gather on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in front of Wyoming’s State Capitol Building for a peaceful rally to show their support for persecuted Christians and humanitarian relief efforts in the Middle East and in other parts of the world.

Wyoming’s State Capitol Building is located at 24th and Capitol Ave. in Cheyenne.

The recent targeting and persecution of Christians by ISIS/ISIL in Iraq, as well as other attacks on Christians throughout the Middle East has caused great concern for Orthodox Christians throughout the United States.
In Iraq, many Christians are fleeing their homes and have evacuated entire cities to escape persecution against Christians at the hands of ISIS/ISIL. Many are now refugees in need of humanitarian aid. Visitors will have an opportunity to support International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), an organization dedicated to international philanthropy.

As confirmed by the Center for the Study of Global Christianity and the Vatican, 100,000 Christians are murdered every year because of their faith. It’s also estimated that a Christian is killed every 11 minutes because of their faith.
