Clear Creek Dental in Fort Collins is giving away up to $500 in cash for trick-or-treaters willing to trade in their excess candy.
Dr. Alex Knect, DDS, will pay $1 per pound and provide free toothbrushes the day after Halloween to little vampires and princesses willing to participate in his anti-cavity movement.
“We want to help children understand sugar consumption leads to tooth decay, diabetes, hyperactivity and weight gain,” said Dr. Knecht. “Instead, we’re encouraging children to find fun in Halloween by filling their piggy banks.”
Sugar consumption for kids is rising at a rate of 2 percent per year, with children consuming around 50 million tons annually.
Creek Creek Dental will collect the candy from 5 – 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at 373 W. Drake Road. Candy must be unopened and there’s a five-pound limit per child.
