According to the Coloradoan’s website, the Gannett-owned newspaper will start charging for online access any day now. The Coloradoan will move to a subscription-based model for its www.coloradoan.com website and mobile apps. Anyone with a print subscription will get unlimited access to the website, e-edition, iPhone, tablet and Android apps.
There’s also a digital-only option in the form of an $8-per-month digital subscription. Non-subscribers will be able to access up to 15 online articles per month at no charge, although that restriction is fairly easy to get around.
North Forty News, which is distributed free each month to 17,000 households and 80 newsstands, has no plans to charge for either the print or online edition.
