The Sustainable Living Association is proud to host Earth Day Fort Collins on Saturday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Civic Center Park, 201 LaPorte Avenue in Fort Collins.

This year continues our collaboration with the City of Fort Collins to provide a wide variety of interactive and educational opportunities for attendees. Electronics recycling is being offered from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. Drop off location is at the city hall parking lot, 300 LaPorte Avenue. Drive Electric Northern Colorado will also be at the city hall parking lot so community members can test drive electric vehicles and learn more about the benefits of electric vehicles. Admission is freeand attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for the Food Bank.

This year’s Earth Day theme will focus on energy efficiency and the city’s “Lose-a-Watt Energy Prize” competition (http://lose-a-watt.com). John Phelan, our keynote speaker from the City of Fort Collins, will discuss how citizens can get involved to help the city win a five million dollar energy prize. Becca Walkinshaw, sustainability coordinator with Gallegos Sanitation, will speak about important new recycling changes in Fort Collins, and our 40+ exhibitors will be showcasing the many sustainability programs, projects, and activities that are available for citizens.

The entertainment line-up will feature Laurel Elementary mandolin and violin students, a drum circle with Dalton Vaughan, the Lineage Music Project from Fort Collins and the folk-rock group Blackbird. Local food trucks and the always popular SLA Beer Garden will be featuring local craft beer and wine.
