Forest Service seeking projects that enhance Larimer County forest ecosystems

The U.S. Forest Service is seeking applications for projects that would enhance forest ecosystems or restore and improve land health and water quality on the Roosevelt National Forest and other nearby lands in Larimer County.

The Pike and San Isabel Resource Advisory Committee (PSI-RAC) is accepting project proposals and the submission deadline is Aug. 15. Proposals must be submitted online at the PSI-RAC website. Click on “Propose a Title II Project” to get to the proposal submission page.

The PSI-RAC works closely with the U.S. Forest Service to recommend projects that will benefit forest health, fish, wildlife, soils, watersheds and other resources; maintain roads, trails and other infrastructure; or control noxious weeds. Proposals will be accepted by both the U.S. Forest Service and cities and counties located in the designated counties.

PSI-RAC projects must be located on National Forest System lands in Larimer, Chaffee, Huerfano, Lake and Park counties or on other nearby lands if the project will benefit the resources on the National Forests. Projects can be completed by U.S. Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements or by open-bid contracting with individuals and corporations.

PSI-RAC Project review forms are available online under “Quick Links” at: fs.usda.gov/psicc. Click on Secure Rural Schools to access the form. In addition, you should obtain a letter of approval for the project from your County Commissioners and submit the letter to the PSI-RAC Coordinator at: [email protected] or,
