The Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive, will break ground on the much anticipated expansion on Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. at the Senior Center. The expansion will consist of a 17,000 square foot addition to the 40,000 square foot facility.

Completion of the project is expected in summer of 2014. The Neenan Company has been selected as the design-build contractor for the project. Conceptual drawings and floor plans include new amenities including a cardio fitness room, wellness center, dance and exercise studios, and multipurpose room modifications. A reception will be held following the ceremony.

Western Night Out will continue the day’s festivities with a chili tasting, beer tasting, prime rib dinner and entertainment from the Kathy Connolly Band. To register for the chili cook-off or to purchase tickets, visit or call the Senior Center at 970-221-6644. The cost for tickets is $32 in advance or $40 at the door. Proceeds from the event will go to the Fort Collins Senior Center Expansion Fund.
