The High Park Fire has now burned an estimated 41,140 acres and continues to grow. There was a lot of air support Monday including water drops from Horsetooth Reservoir by the helicopters along both the south and northeast flanks of the fire. Smoke has been an issue for the air resources with reduced visibility. Good progress was made on the northeast flank but the fire remains 0 percent contained Monday night, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department also reports an undetermined number of structures have been damaged or destroyed in Rist Canyon, Paradise Park, Stove Prairie, Poudre Park, Old Flowers, Stratton Park, Kings Canyon and Cloudy Pass. There could be structure damage in other locations, including Soldier Canyon and Mill Canyon, but no details about the structures are available.
Pre-evacuation planning is underway with Glacier View Fire Department but no pre-evacuation orders have been sent. All other evacuation orders are still in effect and there are no plans to lift them any time soon.
Lightning has been confirmed as the cause of the fire.
