Self described indie-folk artist, Jeff Brown has a lot going for him musically. His voice is smooth and windy, his lyrics haunting. He jokes of being influenced (not so positively) by girls and alcohol but his words are complex and his songs lack that angry edge you hear in some she-left-me-and-now-she-sucks songs. Backed by an acoustic guitar, a violin and a divine female voice, melancholy lyrics like, Tired of waiting for nothing at all/ Needlessly pacing through these paths in my heart/ You keep raining harder on me and I’ll try not to drown, still sound lovely amid the delicate harmonies and meandering string riffs. Brown’s 11-song album, Last Chance, is well worth the listen, though maybe a little long as the songs start to sound slightly repetitive. It’s perfect wine drinking on the patio music…especially if you are feeling a little glum. To take a listen go to: http://jeffbrown.bandcamp.com.
