The Board of Larimer County Commissioners are holding two public listening sessions on Larimer County’s role in Amendment 64/Marijuana regulations for the County.
Last November Colorado voters passed Amendment 64, decriminalizing limited personal cultivation, possession and the recreational use of marijuana by persons 21 years and older. Local jurisdictions must now decide whether to allow or prohibit marijuana operations.
“The County has several decisions to make such as whether to ban or permit retail store operations,” said Larimer County Commissioner Chair Steve Johnson. “The public policy we make here has never been made anywhere before. We know how citizens voted and now we want to find out for example, if citizens in the unincorporated areas want to see facilities in these areas. We want to hear what citizens think might be the potential impacts of our decisions.”
The two listening sessions are:
Fort Collins – April 30 – 6:30-9 p.m. – Larimer County Courthouse Offices Building, 200 West Oak Street, Fort Collins, 1st floor Hearing Room.

The Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, Steve Johnson, will open with remarks, then County Planner Michael Whitley will give a brief overview, leaving ample time for public comment, outlining the history of medical marijuana and the County experience related to it, an overview of Amendment 64, summary of the task force process and recommendation, and the questions that are facing the county with regards to amendment 64.
