Larimer County has contracted with T.F.R. Enterprises Inc., to remove debris on county owned and maintained roads, and Leidos Inc., who will monitor the debris removal. The debris removal schedule also begins Monday, Nov. 25 with the first pick-ups on:
1. County Road 43 from the switch backs down to Glen Haven – the lower part of County Road 43 is still under construction and will be picked up at a later date.
2. Pinewood Springs area
3. South County – in an area related to County Road 4 west of Hwy. 287 – for specifics please refer to the web site!
Larimer County residents can find out when their debris will be picked up by accessing the schedule on the County’s web site, the Virtual Courthouse, at www.larimer.org/flooding2013. There are several important guidelines residents must follow for debris removal:
• Place flood-generated HOUSEHOLD debris on the side of County roads (public right-of-ways), making sure to stay off the road itself, by the scheduled pick-up date. Only flood debris placed on designated County public right-of-ways on scheduled dates will be eligible for collection until further notice. Debris will not be picked up on U.S. Highways, State Highways or private roads. Flood debris put in the public right-of-way for pick-up must be sorted into the following categories:
– Woody and vegetative debris such as limbs and shrubbery
– Silt and mud residue that originates from within your private structures
– Construction & demolition debris including: household items such as furniture, carpet, drywall, lumber and roofing material.
– Metals and large household appliances.
Materials that you want to keep should be removed from the right-of-way or marked with orange paint or ribbon or it will be removed.
A public right-of-way is the area of residential property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, ditch, utility pole or easement. On rural county roads, the public right-of-way is identified as within 12’ of the roadway. Do not place debris near a water meter vault, fire hydrant or any other above-ground utility.
• Call the Flood Recovery information line, 970-498-7140 and press “2” to find out the schedule for debris removal on designated County owned public right-of-ways.
• Household hazardous waste resulting from the flood is NOT eligible for removal and should not be left for pick-up. These items can be brought to the Larimer County Landfill Household Waste Facility, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9-4 p.m. For further information on household hazardous waste please call the Larimer County landfill at 970-498-5773.
The county’s web page will reflect changes as T.F.R clears and finishes by sections and dates. Please check frequently to see the current area being picked up. Larimer County will not be able to guarantee that debris placed on the public right-of-way after the specified deadline will be removed.
In addition to the Flood 2013 debris pick-up schedule, Larimer County’s Solid Waste Department has announced a flood debris helpline, 970-498-7140, where residents can call for debris pick-up updates beginning Monday, Nov. 25.
Check with your private commercial trash hauler to find out when regular Household garbage collection will resume to its normal schedule. Again, please check the Larimer County Web site www.larimer.org/flooding2013 and use the call-in telephone line at 970-498-7140, menu item #2, as of Monday, Nov. 25, for specific information and updates on the debris removal process.
