Larimer County flood debris removal schedule set, with guidelines for debris removal

T.F.R Enterprises Inc. briefed the Larimer County Solid Waste department on Nov. 25 on flood debris removal scheduling. There are many variables to the debris pick up schedule such as weather, access, and debris amounts that will influence the pickup schedule. There will be a 1st, 2nd and final pass in most areas. Visit the Larimer County Flood website at http://larimer.org/flooding2013/ for continually updated information. The schedule for debris pickup will be modified as needed. This is a very fluid situation with many unpredictable changes to the schedule.

Important guidelines for debris removal:

• All property owners in Larimer County flood-damaged areas should place their flood-generated household debris in the county maintained road right-of-ways, making sure to stay off the road itself. Only flood debris placed on designated County public right-of-ways will be eligible for collection until further notice. Debris will not be picked up on U.S. highways, State highways or private roads. Flood debris put in the public right-of-way for pick-up must be sorted into the following categories:

– Woody and vegetative debris such as limbs and shrubbery
– Silt and mud residue that originates from within your private structures
– Construction & demolition debris including: household items such as furniture, carpet, drywall, lumber, roofing material, etc.
– Metals and large household appliances.

• The moving and sorting of debris will take some time for property owners to accomplish. Volunteer help may be available by calling 211. T.F.R Enterprises will be driving these road right-of-ways scanning and mapping the debris piles. Seeing the amounts of debris in areas will help T.F.R Enterprises modify the schedules more accurately.

• Materials that you want to keep should be removed from the right-of-way or marked with orange paint or ribbon or it will be removed.

• Call the Flood Recovery information line, 970-498-7140 and press “2” if you need to report an area or property concerning debris removal.

• Please refer to the debris removal maps online at http://larimer.org/flooding2013/ if you want to see where county road right-of ways are, they are shown in bold green.

• Household hazardous waste resulting from the flood is NOT eligible for removal and should not be left for pick-up. These items can be brought to the Larimer County Landfill Household Waste Facility, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9-4pm. Check with your private commercial trash hauler to find out when regular household garbage collection will resume to its normal schedule.
