Larimer Humane Society volunteers will gather at the Humane Society administrative offices, 5137 S. College Avenue in Fort Collins, on Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the first step in the process of building a new shelter. Volunteers will go through a brief training followed by their first shift collecting signatures in areas around Larimer County.
Larimer Humane Society hopes to collect 25,000 signatures, more than double the number needed to put a sales tax on the November 2013 ballot. The sales tax would be a penny on every $10 and would last for six years with the ability to sunset earlier if sales tax dollars come in at a higher rate.
Signatures must be collected, notarized and verified by July 18 in order for the initiative to be placed on the November 2013 ballot. Any and all volunteers interested in collecting signatures can contact [email protected] to learn more.
