Letter: High school for Wellington contributes to quality of life

Editor:

For years, students in and around Wellington have been able to attend elementary and middle schools in Wellington, but have had to commute to Fort Collins to attend Poudre High School. The passage of 3B and 3C this November will allow Wellington students to attend high school in their own community.

Our public schools are the foundation on which our communities are built. As our communities within the Poudre School District continue to rapidly grow, we must continue to invest in new schools and in the maintenance and repair of our existing schools.

Fortunately, PSD’s excellent fiscal management over the years has brought us to a point in time, where we are able to ask you, our voters, to continue the tax rates we already have in place to support the most needed improvements in PSD. By keeping the tax rate at 52.63 mills, we will be able to build three new schools, provide facility improvements to all 50 schools and our 4 charter schools, build a new transportation maintenance facility, and add an additional district athletic complex.

Having a great school system contributes to our quality of life today and helps to grow excellent citizens who contribute to our community and our future. Please join me in supporting and voting for 3B and 3C support our schools and our kids. Please vote “yes” for PSD kids on Nov. 8.

President, Poudre School District Board of Education
