Letter: Stay in Mayberry!

Editor:

Good for you, Mr. Sorrentino. In last month’s letter to the editor, you managed to disrespect an entire community! I bet they love you in Windsor, too!

To clear up the matter of geography, most of our residents know that Wellington is the first northern town in Colorado along our major north-south Interstate route (Interstate 25) that starts near the Canadian border and ends at the border of Mexico. Furthermore, Wellington’s main thoroughfare is Colorado’s first state route (Route 1) that starts at the I-25 Wellington exit.

For someone who seems to be so concerned about the cost of everything in Wellington, your comments were a cheap shot. Obviously you do not know anything about our community, about our award-winning schools, including national recognition for our middle school, or about our local veterinary practice that recently received a national first-place award.

The town of Wellington is surrounded by vital, vibrant agriculture land with magnificent views of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. We also have a very active business community that supports and encourages one another.

This past spring we asked Wellington-area residents to participate in defining a unique expression of Wellington’s image. The overwhelming response to this “challenge” was very thoughtful and positive. And it was Wellington’s unique location that became the winning choice: Colorado’s Northern Gateway.

Until you have something good to say about Wellington, Mr. Sorrentino, please stay in “Mayberry.”
