Letter: Thanks from Larimer County Commissioner Johnson

Thank you for the opportunity to serve a second term as your Larimer County Commissioner from District 2. I’m very grateful for the confidence in me shown by friends in both political parties. It is a great honor to work for you every day in making Larimer County a better place to live.

I also want to say congratulations Mr. President. You face enormous challenges and a political landscape much the same as your first term. But the outcome must be different. Perhaps never before in recent times has the need to overcome the partisan gridlock in Washington been more urgent. We cannot wait another four years while our problems get worse, while both parties strive to make the other look bad and our economy suffers under the uncertainty of inaction. We must heal our nation of the divisiveness that characterized this election. We must come together and work together to address the urgent challenges facing our land. Both parties must be willing to give a little.

Sadly this hasn’t happened in the last four years and it appears that Congress will remain much the same. Still, we must break this deadlock and rise above it somehow and begin to rebuild our economy into the great nation of opportunity that we know we are and need to be. Many Americans are hurting and we all want to see that addressed. We deserve no less from those we entrusted with national leadership. You said you will be meeting with Mitt Romney. That is a great start. He has some good ideas, you have some good ideas. The two of you represent the vote of most Americans in Tuesday’s election. Represent us all in rebuilding our nation.
