Motivational speakers Marilyn Colter and Ellen Stapenhorst are bringing a free workshop, “Living Joyfully in Hard Times,” to northern Larimer County residents affected by recent fires. Colter, former Red Feather Lakes library director and area resident, said that she was touched by how much sadness and stress there is in the community after many residents in the area lost their homes in the recent fires and she wanted to lift some hearts.
“I felt a pervasive grief affecting the community when I visited recently. Ellen is performing in the area that week, so I suggested we put together a workshop that might help people deal with the immense challenges so many area residents face. ‘Living Joyously in Hard Times’ is not only fun and relaxing but teaches principles of Aikido (‘The Way of Harmony’), mixes it with music, art and writing, and gets us all laughing and singing,” Colter said.
Colter and Stapenhorst create Joyful Living workshops. Stapenhorst is a musician and songwriter, Akido black belt, and has presented workshops both nationally and internationally for more than two decades and was the Red Feather Community Library Director for 10 years.
The workshop is Aug. 6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Livermore Community Hall on CR 74E about two miles west of Highway 287. Workshop activities are suitable for all physical abilities. Participants should be 12 or older. Everyone is welcome. For more information call 970-227-8365.
