These guys are kicking ass and taking names, and they haven’t graduated high school yet. It’s possible that I’m simply partial to the genre, but how can you not have some sort of biological appreciation for some dirty, electric whiskey blues? It has emerged as one of the most primal of modern styles, an organically emotional, earthly sound born in mud and sweat, invigorated only further by the amplifier. It must run in American blood to some degree – Nick Lyon didn’t even know how to play drums before being enlisted by Ryan Rundles and Ethan Cowell to complete the Denver-based trio. Production by Slow Caves’ Oliver Mueller adds a semblance of industry experience on the EP, but for now the biggest obstacle for Meeting House is not an acceptance of their music, but the fact that they are too young to play at 21+ venues.
