When I first popped this CD into my drive, I noticed that there was a pair of thick-rimmed glasses
with a mustache under them on the CD. Under the CD in the case is Michael Kirkpatrick with those
same glasses and a well-groomed mustache. When I saw this I expected great things, and I was
not disappointed. The first song “Just Like You” comes out swinging with pounding beats that get
you out of your seat right away. Kirkpatrick’s voice is deep and inviting. “Young Man” has a driving
beat that is reminiscent of old-style country repurposed into a folk ballad. This song is what I would
imagine it would sound like to travel in the dessert in the middle of summer. “Cold Outside on the
Mountainside,” will warm your heart with beautiful vocals and catchy folk riffs. The entire album is a
folk dream; it is like a log cabin on the top of a mountain.
