The recovery process for survivors of the High Park Fire, their homes and land continues. Several workshops are planned to assist in the process.
A Colorado State Forest Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Cache La Poudre Middle School, 3515 W. County Road 54G, in LaPorte. The topic is “Managing Burned Landscapes,” with specific focus on the High Park Fire area.
A Flood Insurance Workshop will be held Thursday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the first floor hearing room of the Larimer County Courthouse Offices Building,
200 W. Oak St., for residents within and downstream of the High Park Fire area.
Larimer County, the Colorado Water Conservation Board and FEMA will conduct the workshop, which will provide important information about:
• Increased risk from floods due to the fire
• An overview of the National Flood Insurance Program
• Who can get flood insurance
• What flood insurance covers
• How to get flood insurance.
During and after the workshop, flood insurance experts will be available to answer questions.
A Fire Survivors Workshop with Four-Mile Canyon Fire survivors will be held Thursday, July 19, 6:30 p.m., also in the first floor hearing room. And a United Policyholders Workshop, offering advice on dealing with insurance companies after a fire, is set for Thursday, Aug. 2, 6:30 p.m., in the same place.
Additional community meetings will also be scheduled, according to the county’s website.
