Our best wishes — and the seasons greeting – to you this holiday season.
The Greening of Red Feather at the Library Dec. 1 and 2 will bring crafts, cider, cookies and a long-awaited visit from Santa Claus. However, the festivities live on through the month.
By Creed Kidd, Library Director
We do have several holiday activities continuing: Children’s Christmas tree making (kits available in the library) that can be constructed at home and entered in the annual contest through Dec. 8. Judging (and the awarding of prizes) will take place Dec. 22.
The library’s own Ruth’s Gallery, the monthly art gallery area, is creatively miniaturized by Debbie Joncas in a 33-inch by 21-inch by 14-inch display that is available for purchase through silent auction bidding. Bidding begins at $50 and increases in $5 increments. Bidding will close Dec. 8 and the highest bidder will be contacted. This should allow sufficient time prior to Christmas for the miniature to make a terrific, personalized Christmas gift. Proceeds of the auction will go to our Friends of the Library group and used directly to enhance services within the library.
We’ll also have available for silent auction other donated artwork that will be on display in the library.
Continuing efforts made last month in celebrating the library’s 43rd birthday, we’ll have cider, coffee and home-baked cookies all Fridays in the library (from the Greening through Christmas) — you and your family are invited to stop by.
There will be a very special hour-long Fun Day activity Dec. 18, at 3:30 p.m. Blackbird, the singing duo of Ben and Sarah Myers, will be performing at the library. Sarah, as many of you will remember, was the second library director at the RFL Community Library.
Your library offers several continuing children’s and youth programs, including Young Adult Night (3rd Saturday of each month), Fun Day (each Tuesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.), and Preschool Play & Reading (each Thursday from 12 noon-12:30 p.m.).
Haven’t yet renewed your annual membership in The Red Feather Lakes Friends of the Library – our important promotional and fundraising sister group? Well, it’s never too late. Memberships run from June to June annually, but your signing up now directly benefits both the library and your experience at the library. Contact us at 970-881-2664, [email protected] or the Friends directly at [email protected].
Find the Library website at www.redfeatherlibrary.org. Library hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and we provide wireless access to the Internet 24/7.
In celebrating with you the holiday season, the library will be closed Dec. 25, Christmas Day, and Jan. 1, New Year’s Day.
In Ruth’s Gallery for December: Christmas decorations and children’s seasonal crafts.
Have a great holiday season.
